Calling All Women....

I have a question to ask....

Every time I see the commercial on television for the Clear Blue Easy brand pregnancy tests, I always seem to giggle when they make the following statement -

Clearblue® Easy Digital Pregnancy Test –Unmistakably clear results in words Did you know that 1 in 4 women can misread a traditional pregnancy test result?

I am just curious if this is true because I personally never had a problem, have any of you?????

The kids are still napping, can you tell that I am bored?!?!

The only thing I can figure is that some woment think that if the test line is really light, that it means negative. Back when I was on an infertility web board there were TONS of pictures of tests with the query "Do you think this is positive?" Otherwise, if there are that many women who can't figure out two lines mean baby and one line means not, I'm pretty worried! :)

Thanks Emily,I actually did not even think of the situation of a "faint line", which I could imagine would cause anxiety in an already anxious situation. I just keep thinking that they mean have trouble with the whole two lines means baby, etc...if that is the case - I would be worried too :)

Hi! I just came over from WATF and am enjoying your blog :)
I had to comment on this one, because I actually have a good friend that did this... she didn't understand the directions, and threw away 4 (positive) tests before they were done. She then realized you have to wait a few minutes before the 2nd line will show up! She didn't know she was pregnant until she was 8 weeks along! I'm thinking a "yes" or "no" will be ideal for her :)

"must be some pretty stupid women" was my DH's comment when we saw that commercial b/c neither one of us ever had any issues reading the ones I've taken! :) I don't personally know of any women who have misread results, but all the tests are different, so maybe if you were using several different brands around the same time it could be confusing? I dunno!

I have never had issues with this. Perhaps if someone didn't read the directions they might have some problems...other than that it seems pretty clear to me. One line = negative. Two lines = positive.

ha ha YES I did with both pregnancies. The first time it said no and I wasn't waiting long enough (I know that sounds so dumb) and the second time we weren't quite sure if it really was a + or not so we went and bought one of the word tests. =) How embarressing!

Just stumbled across this and had to laugh - that's exactly what I think every time I see this commercial!
